Context is king when it comes to content. With 25+ years of experience, Gillian Flynn goes further afield to find fresh angles and hone narratives outside the traditional purview. Her storytelling is authoritative, timely and grabby, characterized by double-vision awareness earned on both sides of media.
Gillian’s award-winning journalism spans from The Associated Press to Modern Luxury, where she served as editor-in-chief of Riviera magazine and California Interiors. A prototypical lifestyle editor, Gillian packaged stories and enlivened brand conversations long before “branded content” rolled into town. She earned her journalism chops old-school style—as a beat reporter for daily newspapers in New England, covering the New Hampshire presidential primary with the same doggedness as the local duck hunting convention. She’s earned awards from The Society of Professional Journalists, The North American Travel Journalists Association and The San Diego Press Club.
Later, Gillian was editorial director at J Public Relations, an international agency specializing in luxury hospitality and destination PR. Here, she executed content strategy for a top coterie of clients including Irvine Company, Baja California, The Ritz-Carlton, Relais & Châteaux and Disney.
Gillian was born in London and raised in New York, where her father worked in publishing at Bantam and Random House respectively. She grew up amongst books and periodicals, operating a “library” out of her childhood bedroom.
She lives in Rancho Santa Fe, California where she writes for brands, non-profits, and is editor-at-large at San Diego Magazine. A passionate vintage collector, follow her @the.vintage.editor
